Scout - An Overview

Scout frees the fraud officer from the repetition of basic administration, empowers the section manager who wants to optimise resources and increases the chances of identifying fraud through cross-matching and searching.

Scout
holds comprehensive details about each investigation and soon becomes the single point of reference for the fraud team. This eliminates the dependence on paper files, and allows more than one officer to view the data simultaneously if required. Individual cases can be marked as ‘restricted’ and subsequently become invisible to general users. This makes the system suitable for both external and internal investigations. Scout will guide you through each stage of the investigation, from sending an SLA to the DSS through to making a WBS/WIB claim and maybe a prosecution.

Scout allows you to search for any data, stored anywhere in your caseload. You might start by searching for the surname of a claimant. This could be expanded to search for partners who share that name, and perhaps landlords, alternate payees and known aliases too. Scout will show you all the cases meeting your criteria, and displays the main case details in a summary window through which you can page.  If you identify a case which warrants further examination, simply click on that case to select it.

Scout
produces all standard letters and forms for agencies such as the DSS and NAFN as well as internal memos to benefits staff. All these documents can be fully customised using your preferred word processor. Scout’s powerful reporting is invaluable in helping the section manager target resources and monitor staff performance. All the standard returns are automatically produced (e.g. WBS2/3, N124/N124A). In addition there are a host of in-house reports designed to analyse proven and unproven cases and optimise the subsidy claim. Scout’s case diary assists each fraud officer in keeping track of their workload and appointment schedule.

Scout
has been designed for MS Windows and Office (see our Technical Guide). Many authorities already run this software on their PC’s and are familiar with its functions and features. This enables users to quickly apply their existing PC skills and rapidly benefit from the advantages that Scout offers.

A full system guide is provided to each user and Scout’s easy installation and set-up eliminates the need to rely on staff with special IT knowledge. The product and pricing have been developed for scalability, making Scout suitable for single-user sites, through to Authorities with a larger fraud team using a PC network.
